He was born to the late Doc Chavis and Sally Lynch Chavis in Alamance County. He was married to Evelyn Ireland Chavis who survives. He loved to fish and playing the lotto. He also enjoyed watching T.V. He began working at Chick-fil-a and became very loved by all who came into contact with him. He enjoyed his job and will be dearly missed. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Evelyn Ireland Chavis of the home, sons: Jerry Lee Chavis Jr. of Greensboro, Terry Hester, Dwayne Hester and Leroy Hester all of Burlington and Torrance Wyatt of Graham, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and a host of relatives, family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: James Chavis and Paul Chavis and one sister: Daisy Mae Chavis.
