Jean’s Obituary On Tuesday December 31, 2019, Jean Rowley, left her earthly home for her home in Glory, at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 11 days. Daughter of the late Lonnie and Cora (Pittman) Grooms, Jean was born November 20, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas, and was 1 of 11 children. She grew up in Oklahoma City, and it was there where she met Paul, and at the young age of 15 they married and started their family, and by the age 22 they had their first four sons and then another joined them a few years later. We are not real sure, but we think that they may have wanted a little girl in that mix (lol), but that didn’t happen, so 5 boys it was! Eddie, Ernie, Richard, Danny and Kevin Dale; those boys were the apple of her eye, she loved them all so much with all her heart, and then grandbabies came along and they were naturally a VERY close second, 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and my oh my how she loved each and everyone. She loved to see them, hold them, hug on them, spoil them and just spend time with them. Jean was of the Baptist faith and though she did not regularly attend, she was a believer of our Lord and Savior. She enjoyed reading, playing games on her kindle or the computer, following face book and she was known to enjoy time at the Casino now and then. She also enjoyed going out to eat and when she turned down an opportunity to do so, you knew she probably wasn’t feeling well! Her favorite place to eat on Thursdays was at Baldwin’s. She and Ernie frequented there almost every Thursday for the meatloaf. Though Jean did not finish high school, after she and her family moved to Ardmore, she attended the Southern Oklahoma VoTech and earned her Nurse Aid Certificate. Jean worked at local nursing homes as a CNA, and then worked at the Ardmore Veterans Center as a CNA and then as a PTA until her retirement, after many years of services to our Veterans. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband Paul, a son Kevin Dale Rowley, granddaughter, Bethany Rowley, 3 brothers and 3 sisters, all whom she loved deeply. Jean is survived by her sons, Eddie (Ed) and DiAnna and Richard (Rick) and Djuana of Moore; Ernie (George) and Sandy, Danny (Dan) and Vicky, and Randy and Christie Hamilton of Ardmore; her sisters, Betty (Sookie) Kelly of Oklahoma City; Bobby Nell and Bobbie Woods, Virginia McClasky and Glenda and Lloyd Bowers of Maud. Her sisters were very dear to her heart and she just recently got to go to the “Sister” Christmas party which they tried to have every year. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and some very special friends. Serving as Pallbearers will be, Matthew Lowe, Zachariah Rowley, Christopher Green, Steve Bowers, Glen Bowers, Vincen Garcia and Michael Garcia. Honorary pallbearers include 2 of her grandsons, Micheal Rowley and Jakob Whatley, and her great-grandsons Lucas Green, Landon Lowe, Cannon Southard, Dawson Burns, Briar Heartsill, Pearson Heartsill and Ollie Heartsill. Funeral services will be at Saturday, January 4, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. in the Trinity Baptist Church of Maud, followed by burial at the Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. A time of visitation and support for family and friends will be Friday, Jan 3rd, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home in Ardmore.
