James Orville Vandiver, age 82 of Highland, IL, died Monday, January 27, 2020, at Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born on Thursday, June 3, 1937, in Des Arc, AR, the son of Thomas and Pearl (nee McClellan) Vandiver. On Friday, March 2, 2001, he married Joyce E. Vandiver, nee Harness, at Carlyle, IL, who passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018. James was born at Des Arc, AR; graduated from Pine Bluff High School, Pine Bluff, AR. Worked for Pine Bluff Arsenal, north of Pine Bluff; drove a bus for Continental Trail Ways and later Greyhound Bus Co. He then was an Independent Truck Driver for many years. After Pine Bluff he lived at Glen Carbon, IL, (Wheel Ranch Park) and then East of Highland, IL, since 1988. Survivors include: Daughter – Vicki Lynn Vandiver-Brooks, Pine Bluff, AR Grandchild – James P. “Jimmy” (Michelle) Vandiver, Mount Ida, AR Grandchild – Brandy Nicole Brooks, Mabelvale, AR Grandchild – Brittani Megan Brooks, Little Rock, AR Great Grandchild – Ja’Niya Marie Robinson, Little Rock, AR Brother In-law – Jack Moseley, New Edinburg, AR He was preceded in death by: Father – Thomas Adrian Vandiver Mother – Pearl Vandiver, nee McClellan Wife – Joyce E. Vandiver – Died 9/15/2018 Son – James Thomas Vandiver (1962 – 2004) Sister – Norma Jean Vandiver Sister – Elzada Bradley Brother – Harold Vandiver Sister – Carol Sue Herring Sister – Beverly Ann Moseley – Died 4/22/2019 Sister – Donna Kay Bryan – Died 1/13/2020 Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Interment will be at Welcome Home Cemetery, Des Arc, Arkansas a later date.
