Obituary Visiting Hours: Thursday, January 30th, 2-4:30 & 7-9:30 p.m. in our West Sayville funeral home. Funeral Mass: Friday, January 31st, St. Lawrence RC Church, Sayville. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery. James J. Kornely, 89, a 56-year resident of West Sayville, died on Saturday, January 25, 2020. Raised in Richmond Hill, Queens, Jim served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Kornely worked for more than fifty years as an operating engineer with the Local 138. He was also a longtime active member of St. Lawrence RC Church in Sayville, he was an avid fisherman and loved to spend time in his cabin upstate New York. Mr. Kornely is survived by his four children, James of South Carolina, Dolores of Sayville, Anne Barbieri and her husband Steven of West Sayville and Barbara Tirado and her husband Richard of Oceanside, his four grandchildren, Kimberly, Sarah, Anthony and Bryan, his brother, Phillip and his wife Betty of Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews.
