George L. Diaz, Sr., of Old Bridge, NJ passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the age of 77. George was born in Manati, Puerto Rico to parents Pedro and Jacinta Diaz. He spent his early childhood on the island of Puerto Rico and migrated to New York City at the age of 10. He was an incredible strong and hardworking man. Having worked in the construction industry early in his career, he then worked at the ASPCA as an animal technician for over 20 years. After which he then worked at Madison Square Garden as a custodian for over 15 years before retiring. He will always be remembered not only for his love of music and playing dominos but also for his love of family. He would always help anyone in need whether he knew them or not. That was just his nature. Not to mention, his wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Diaz; his children, George Jr., Gilbert, Hilda and Stephanie. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, as well as his loving sisters, Sonia, Gladys and his brother, Ernesto, along with many nieces and nephews for who he loved so dearly. A wake will be held on Friday, January 10th from 12-4pm and then from 6-10pm at Old Bridge Funeral Home(2350 Rt. 516, Old Bridge, NJ). Mass will be held on Saturday January 11th at St. Ambrose Church at 10:30am (83 Throckmorton Lane, Old Bridge, NJ).
