Mr. Floyd Gilbert “Gib” McCurry, 95, of Golden Valley, died Monday, January 20, 2020 at Houston House. He was the widower of Madge Powell McCurry, and a son of the late Solon and Willie Smawley McCurry. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ivo McCurry and Glen “Tib” McCurry. Gib worked for over 30 years at Breeden Poultry & Eggs. He was a WWII Army veteran and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Smokey Mountain Hogg Chapter of the Harley Riders, and loved bluegrass music. He is survived by his sons, Dale McCurry and Todd McCurry, both of Golden Valley; his daughters, Lisa Carter of Bostic, Ellen McCurry of Marion, Kaythe McCurry of Golden Valley, Carolyn Burnette of Old Fort, and Barbara Bradley of Cross Hill, SC; a brother, Sherrill McCurry of Golden Valley; there are 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. The Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Golden Valley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Billy Bostic will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Coty Herman, Dennis Weaver, Steve Burnette, Quince Burnette, Eric Van Dyke, Ethan McCurry, and Dale Ramsey. The Visitation will be from 12 pm until 1:45 pm Wednesday in the church fellowship hall prior to the service, and at other times the family will be at the residence of Lisa Carter, 315 Walls Church Road, Bostic.
