Eva Christine Abrahamson O’Connor passed from this life into the arms of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on January 29, 2020 at the age of 102 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Eva was born at Nettleton, Kansas May 5, 1917 to Alvin Luther Abrahamson and Christine (Lorenzen) Abrahamson. Eva was the fourth of eight siblings: Frances (McNitt), Loren Abrahamson, Alice (Booth), Margaret (Call), Paul Abrahamson, Vern Abrahamson, and Grace (Abel). Eva graduated from both grade school and high school at Macksville, Kansas. During her high school years, she and her sister Margaret worked at the local drugstore soda fountain. At the time it was the social gathering place for young and old alike. Following high school, Eva attended Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas before marrying her high school sweetheart, Robert David O’Connor in April of 1938 at Macksville, Kansas Four children were to this union: Michael Kent O’Connor, Rebecca Dianne (Trentman). Nicholas David O’Connor, and Lance Robert O’Connor. Eva and Bob made their home on a farm two miles west of Macksville, Kansas for nearly 67 years. Eva loved her rural farm life and was well known for her warm-hearted hospitality. Many nieces and nephews spent time during the summers on the farm, helping with chores, riding horses, and enjoying the freedoms of rural living. The old round oak table in her country kitchen was a favorite gathering place for both family and friends. Eva was noted for her baked goods, especially her cinnamon rolls and pies. However, her favorite pastimes were sewing and gardening. Her perennial flower beds were ever expanding, filled with her favorite’s, poppies and daisies. Eva was a life-long Bible Student, a passion she shared with her sisters. For many years she taught bible studies to women in the community. To her former students, she was both a friend, teacher, and role model for living a Christian life. To her children and grandchildren, her memory will always be as a source of comfort, acceptance, and encouragement. Following Bob’s death in March of 2006, Eva made her home in Oklahoma, close to her daughter, Becky. From 2006 to 2011, she lived at the Baptist Village Independent Living in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Later in 2011, she moved to Green Country Assisted Living in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where she is remembered fondly by friends and staff, as well as by all friends and family who visited her regularly. Survivors include two sister, Margaret Call and Grace Abel; sons, Michael and wife Patricia, Nicholas and wife Debbie and Lance and wife Faith, as well as their daughter Becky and husband Lewis; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two great-great granddaughters who were her pride and joy.
