Ernest Kenneth Abshire, 91, of Inwood, WV, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at VA medical Center. Born April 1, 1928 in Berkeley County, he was the son of the late Ernest S. Abshire and Lyda May (Slonaker) Abshire. Ernest served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947, he worked at Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, MD and worked his way up to a supervisor before retiring. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Edna Lee (Coe) Abshire; two sons, E. Kevin Abshire (Michele) and Stephen Brian Abshire; one daughter, Constance Lynn Parkinson (Steve) all of Inwood; six grandchildren, Douglas, Tara, Brandon, and Andrew Abshire, Dustan and Derek Huff; and fifteen great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Abshire and Richard (Dick) Abshire; sister, Thelma Bennett. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 6, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood. Everyone is welcome to wear casual attire as requested by the family. Private graveside service at Pleasant View Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gerrardstown United Methodist Church, 110 Dominion Road, Gerrardstown, WV, 25420.
