Obituary Elena Rae Corum, 74, of Carmi and formerly of Henderson, KY, passed away at 4:17 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2020 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. She was born in Dugger, Indiana on January 25, 1945 the daughter of Lloyd and Eunice (Cooksey) Smith. Elena Rae married John T. Corum on November 10, 1967 and he preceded her in death on October 14, 2003. She retired after 42 years from 5/3 Bank in Evansville, IN. After retirement, she volunteered at Methodist Hospital in the Gift Shop. Elena Rae was a member of Chapel Hill Methodist Church in Henderson. Surviving are a daughter, L’Pree Collins of Aurora, IL; two grandchildren, Raeley (Kevin Langston) Mertens of Sturgis, KY and Thomas Ricketts of Henderson, KY; a great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Mertens of Sturgis, KY; and special friends, Sallee Hart of Carmi and Ronnie Blake of Henderson, KY. Services for Elena Rae Corum will be held at a later date with burial in Hickory Cemetery in Dugger, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Elena Rae’s memory to assist with funeral expenses to Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
