Mrs. Connie Joe Welchert, daughter of the late Arthur “Bill” Crowder and Evelyn Hontz Crowder was born October 12, 1943 in Kansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Argentine High School and completed her Associates Degree in Nursing from Penn Valley Community College. Connie provided care and comfort as a nurse for more than 30 years at Baptist Hospital and the Surgery Center in Overland Park, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Bernard “Bernie” Welchert on September 5, 1970. She will be loving remembered for her kindness and generous spirit. Connie played piano, enjoyed cooking, photography and was an avid animal lover. She passed peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2019 at Lakeview Village where she was rehabilitating after being ill. She was preceded in death by her beloved dog Poochie. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her loving husband, Bernie; step-children David Welchert and wife Dr. Tammy Welchert of Kansas City, MO and Susan Greathouse of Sarasota, FL; sisters and brothers, Carolyn Bagby and husband John of Lascassas, TN, Dorothy McKee and husband Elvin “Jug” and Clifford Crowder and wife Christine, all of Kansas City, KS, David Crowder and wife Donna of Lone Jack, MO, and Debora Powell and husband Steve of Boise, ID; two grandsons, Hunter Welchert and Ryan Greathouse; two great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many thoughtful friends and neighbors.
