Mr. Chester Darrol Martin Sr. was born July 8, 1936 in Memphis, TN the son of Chester Wiliam and Opal Louise Luttrell Martin. His parents were tragically killed in a car accident when he was four years old, he was then raised by William E. “Jack” and Martha Muriel Luttrell Moore. Mr. Martin was a Carpenter with TVA, a proud graduate of the Columbia Military Academy where he went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army as a Private First Class, a member of the Rifle and Pistol Team, a proud member of the DeSoto Masonic Lodge #299, a member of the Scottish Rite of Memphis, TN, a 49 year member of the Al Menah Shriners and a member of the Baptist Faith. He was united in marriage to Sandra “Sandy” N. Pitts on November 22, 1962. Over the years they made their home in Memphis, TN, Hernando, MS, Fresno, CA, and Waynesboro, TN. Mr. Martin departed this life on January 30, 2020 in Waynesboro making his stay in this life some 83 Years, 6 Months and 22 Days. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Sandra “Sandy” N. Pitts Martin of Waynesboro, TN; a son, Chester Darroll “Chip” Martin of Smyrna, TN; three grandchildren, William Chester “Will” Martin of Waynesboro, TN, Wyatt Lee Martin of Smyrna, TN, Madison Grace “Maddie” Martin; Brother-in-law, John Ross Pitts (Sandra) of Waynesboro, TN, Sister-in-law June Moore of Memphis, TN, Sister-in-law Joy Pitts of Counce, TN, Niece, Shelley Davis Minatra (Jeff) of Waynesboro, TN, and a Nephew, Eric Kyle Davis (Regina) of Linden, TN. Niece Jane Ann Cummings (Jeff) of Savannah, TN, Nephew, Jason Pitts (Leanne) of Iuka, MS, Niece Johna Pitts of Richmond, VA, Niece Martha Pitts of Murfreesboro, TN, Nephew Ross Pitts of Mt. Juliet, TN, Great Nieces and Nephews, Andrew Bunch (Sky) of Mt. Juliet, TN, Alora Pope (Eric) of Waynesboro, TN, Kenzsley Davis, Ethan Davis, and Kayley Rogers all of Linden, TN, Carson and Ryder Cummings of Savannah, TN and Braylon Pitts of Iuka, MS. He is also survived by many other loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Chester William and Opal Louise Luttrell Martin, his parents of the heart William E. “Jack” and Martha Muriel Luttrell Moore, brother James Billy Martin, step-brother, Billy Jack Moore, sister-in-law Brenda Pitts Davis, brother-in-law, Joe Anthony Pitts and his in-laws Joe and Marguerite Bastin Pitts. Services will be held on February 2, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro, TN with Rod Littrell officiating. Burial will follow in the North Highland Cemetery in Waynesboro with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be on Saturday February 1, 2020 from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM with Masonic Rites being given at 6:00 PM and then again on Sunday from 11:00 am until service time at 2:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro.
