Obituary Mr. Bravelet Artis was born in Halifax County, North Carolina on January 3, 1947, to the late Willie Prince and Emma Brown Artis. Bravelet, affectionately known by his Pennsylvania family as “Art.” was preceded in death by his sister, Rubie Kellum, brother, Raymond Artis and companion Beulah Garrett. Art was formerly employed at Jefferson Hospital where he worked in the mailroom for many years. He will be remembered by his daughter Shaquail Artis of Swissvale, PA; companion’s son, Maurice Chapelle; siblings, Junius Artis, Capron, VA, Bernice Artis Gatling, Suffolk, VA, Iola (James) Smith, Raleigh, NC, Esmond Artis Strout, Houston, TX, Lois Artis, Willie “Calvin” Artis, Lawerence (Sarah) Artis, Chesapeake, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
