Betty Harris Rollins was escorted by the angels to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 9, 2020. Born May 1, 1936, she was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She retired from Drexel Heritage with 37 years of service. She was a member of Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church which she loved so much. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren. Betty enjoyed the outdoors, especially her flower garden. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, James Grady and Lena Mae Harris; husband, William M. Rollins; and brothers, Jim, Tony and J.P. Harris. She is survived by her son, Ricky Rollins and wife, Linda; daughter, Cindy Carter and husband, Tim; sisters, Hattie Lawson, Polly Gentry and husband, Tate, and Ginger Harris; brothers, Robert Harris and Junior Harris and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Nicole, Ashley, Amber and Amy; and great grandchildren, Jaden, Amarissa, and Jillian. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 6:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will be at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church, 204 Blue Ridge Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
