Obituary Betty Ann Briggs Gillis, 75 of Sanford passed away Thursday January 23, 2020. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, January 25th, 2020 at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home Chapel. Ms. Gillis was born in High Point, to the late C.C. “Buck” Briggs and Mozelle Harris Hutchens Briggs. She had ten half-sisters and two half-brothers. She retired from Redman Industries in 2006. Ms. Gillis is survived by her son, Jason Craig Gillis of Broadway; one grandson, Austin Craig Gillis of Broadway; her fur baby, Pitt Bull, “Big Boy”; special nieces and nephews, Janet Duty, Nancy Griffin, Sue Downs, Margaret Merrill, Terry Harrington, Pete Saunders, Billy and Bobby Hutchens; She was preceded in death by two special sisters, Gladys Thomas and Laura Saunders; two special brothers, Bill and Tom Hutchens. Also surviving are several special friends, Janet Harrington, Carolyn Sloan, Nancy Christian, Judy Cameron, Linda Strauch, Frankie Abernathy, Joni Tyree, Lewis Hunter, and the late Patsy Thomas, Wilbur “Buddy” Thomas, and Don Thomas. The family will greet friends following Saturday’s Memorial service. Memorial contributions can be made to Carolina Animal Rescue and Adoption (CARA), PO Box 2642, Sanford, NC 27331-2642.
