The community all around has been her domain for ninety one years and for many of those years, with her open heart and open door, she has made it a happier place as she lived at its center. Bertha Mae Clevenger Lybrand was always thinking of and doing for others. Family, friends, church, neighbors always came first. She laughed often and played games. She gave gifts and compliments and encouragement. She had red hair and white carpet. Bertha is survived by her son, Eugene Ausman (Lori ) and their family, Lauren Ausman and Kynlee Brewer, Ashlie Nicholas (Shannon) Alyssa and Ryllee. Her extended family, most of whom are neighbors, include sister, Ruby Lee Upton and Clevenger brothers, Charles, (Toni): Donnie, (Susan) Larry (Barbara) and Garry (Kay.) Preceding her in death, are: husband, Jake A. Lybrand: parents, Rubert E. and Eva May George Clevenger and their oldest son, Rubert Earl Jr. Adoring nieces and nephews in large numbers will miss her warmth and acceptance. She, as did all of her siblings, graduated from McAdory High School, their mother’s school. Bertha was a hard worker in all that she did and became a successful business woman. Bertha was the center of her family and neighborhood. She was a longtime member of Central Park Baptist Church. Twenty years ago she returned to her home church Grace Life Baptist Church, where she had met Jesus as a young girl. She followed His teachings and served Him faithfully until she followed Him into a never ending time and place, in the presence of God and His Glory. Memorial gifts may be made to Grace Life Baptist Church (formerly Loveless Park Baptist Church) Building Fund. Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home with burial following at Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
