Barbara Ann Shannon, 86, a lifelong resident of Princeton, Ind., passed from this life at 8:27 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus, Ind. Born on Jan. 22, 1934, in Princeton, Ind., Barbara was the daughter of the late Wylie and Rosalind (Boger) Woods. On May 8, 1964, Barbara married Carlyle Shannon. Barbara graduated from Princeton High School in 1952. She was a lifetime member of the United Presbyterian Church. She sang in the choir and has served as a trustee and session member for the church. Barbara also had a long career in the banking industry, working at various points as a teller, loan officer and data-entry specialist. She started in 1964 with Farmers National Bank and went through multiple mergers — retiring from Fifth Third Bank in 1996 after 32 years in that field. Barbara was proud to be a Daughter of the American Revolution through patriot Joseph Woods. She also loved to play cards and travel with friends and family. She has traveled to all 50 states and multiple countries, including Cuba, Mexico, Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein. Her favorite trips were to the Hawaiian islands. For the past 12 years, she also very much enjoyed being a “snow bird” in Punta Gorda, Fla. Barbara is survived by daughter Lori Shannon McKee (Patrick) of Punta Gorda, Fla.; siblings David L. Woods of Punta Gorda, Fla., Helen M. King of St. Louis, Mo., and Phyllis K. Woods of Princeton, Ind. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews plus several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Carlyle Shannon; and her parents. A special thank you to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility for her wonderful care. We would also like to thank American Nursing Care, Dr. Brittany Mohrman, Dr. Jared Brosch and the staffs of both physicians for their exceptional care. A private family gathering will be held at a later date with burial in Archer Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.
