Funeral services for Alice Luedke, 77, of Northrup, Texas are pending at this time. Alice Lorine Mitschke was born on January 28, 1942 in Northrup, Texas. She was called to her Savior’s side and eternal home on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at her home in Northrup, Texas. Alice was the daughter of Isidor & Elsie Noack Mitschke. She was born again into the Kingdom of God through Holy Baptism on February 1, 1942 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas with Pastor Hermann Schmidt officiating. She confirmed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin on March 25, 1956 with Pastor A. Arndt officiating. Alice was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran in Serbin, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Houston and Trinity Lutheran Church in Klein throughout her life. On July 22, 1961, she was united in marriage to Glenn Christophe Luedke at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin by Pastor A. Froelich of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas. This union was blessed with two children, Dena Lynne and Dane Scott. Alice began full-time employment in November of 1959 at HS&C Insurance in downtown Houston, then for several different insurance companies and agencies until the end of January 1981 when her family moved back to Giddings. She then worked for two different oil companies from February 1981 until June of 1986. Alice then worked for Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative from September of 1986 until August of 2006. She then began working for Leeco Industrial Plastics for the next five years and retired in August of 2011. Alice enjoyed working in her flowerbeds and trading plants with friends. She looked forward to shopping and having lunch with friends. Her passion was serving people as she helped serve food at funerals, volunteered at the Giddings Area Food Pantry for several years, and helped with the to-go line at Wendish Fest. Most of all she looked forward to the time spent with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Luedke; daughter, Dena Luedke Kuhlmann; son, Dane Scott Luedke; parents, Isidor & Elsie Mitschke; parents-in-law, Willie & Clara (Mertins) Luedke; three brothers-in-law, Willard “Bubba” Luedke, Wally Wilson, and Terry Luedke, and two nephews, Michael Mitschke and Mark Luedke. Alice is survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Sommer & Chris Garman and their children, Nathan & Oliver of San Antonio, and Caleb & Wendy Kuhlmann and their children, Jeremiah, Micaiah, Leah Grace, Isaiah & Adah of Montgomery; two brothers, Paul & Evelyn Mitschke of Northrup and Calvin & Ina Mitschke of Northrup; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carmen Luedke of Brenham, Margie & Johnny Fleissner of Dale, Mitzie & Butch Frazier of Houston, Larry & Sandy Luedke of Huffman, and Melody Luedke of Midlothian, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
