Obituary Myrtle “Alline” Cottrell, nee Harris, of Sullivan, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, Missouri passed away peacefully Friday, December 6, 2019 surrounded by family at the age of 93 years and 1 day. She was born December 5, 1926 in Cherryville, Missouri to James T. Harris and Bessie Jane Bettorff Harris. On March 27, 1948 in Steelville, she was united in marriage to Vencil Cottrell and to this union two sons and three daughters were born. Alline was employed at White Castle in St. Louis as a teenager and later at different factories in the St. Louis area. Eventually, she came back home to Crawford County and worked at Brown Shoe Company, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Midland Pentecostal Church for many years. She enjoyed quilting and reading her Bible, but most of all loved her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bessie Harris; husband, Vencil Cottrell; daughter, Karen Wynn; granddaughter, Brianna; son-in-law, Buck Martin; brother, William “Bernard” Harris; three sisters, Mildred (Cletis) Turnbough, Violet (Herman) Hewkin and Bonnie Barton; father and mother-in-law, Earl and Lena Cottrell; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Davis and Jim Martin, Burton Cottrell, Ronald Cottrell, Bill Cottrell, Roy Cottrell and Mitford Cottrell; sisters-in-law, Norma Hogan, Lois Barton, Wilma Crabtree, Rilma Wilkinson and Helen Robinson. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her two sons, Jim (Jan) Cottrell of Sullivan, MO and Doug (Ami) Cottrell of Steelville, MO; two daughters, Rhonda (Bill) Farris and Cleta Hartman all of Sullivan, MO; one brother, Thomas (Elma) Harris of Viburnum, MO; two sisters, Ina Davis and Betty Martin all of Steelville, MO; thirteen grandchildren, Lori Martin, Rebecca Kick, Ronnie Cottrell, Dale Cottrell, Shannon Helmig, Jared Farris, Jeremy Farris, Crystal Farris, Sheldon Farris, Timothy Cottrell, Samantha Miller, Bailie and Ryan Cottrell; nineteen great-grandchildren, Grant and Burke Ritter, Samantha and Beau Kick, Kayla Anderson, Amanda Tod, Lucas Cottrell, Austin Frye, Hayden Cottrell, Haley Cottrell, Jackson Cottrell, Kevin and Brandon Roark, Kelsey Rogers, Austin Farris, Anthony Diestelkamp, Dustin Farris, Ross and Lauren Farris; eight great-great-grandchildren, Harper, Henry, Erin and Aiden, Madison, Lillian, Addyson and Natalie; nieces, nephews, other relatives; and many friends. The Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Alan Miles officiating. Committal prayer and interment will be in the Steelville Cemetery. Honored to be casket bearers will be Ronnie Cottrell, Dale Cottrell, Jeremy Farris, Jared Farris, Ross Farris and Beau Kick.
