Larry Conner March 21, 1947 – November 27, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Larry Gene Conner, age 72, of Alma passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida after a short illness. Mr. Larry was raised by his late grandparents Edgar and Mamie Varnadore, preceded in death by his parents, Herchel Johnson Conner, Jr. and Sarah Cleveland Mays and two sisters Frankie Barber and Judy Simmons. Mr. Larry served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era, retired from Satilla REMC, in his later years he loved farming and was a Member of Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Melissa Johnson Conner of Alma, children James “Jody” Conner (Belinda) of Waynesboro, GA. and NancyAnne Conner, brother Don E. Varnadore (Carolyn), of Alma, sisters JoAnn Barber of Alma and Glenda Wildes of St. Marys, GA. grandchildren Kaitlin McClellan, Jacob McClellan and James Conner and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Brown officiating. Eulogies will be given by Nancy Conner and Jacob McClellan. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6 to 9 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bacon County Young Farmers Association. Active pallbearers will be; Roy Barber, Mike Carter, Clint Johnson, Joey Anderson, Jonathan Varnadore, Ed Barber, Trey Cason and Jon Cason. Honorary pallbearers will be; George Johnson, John Tanner, Chett Johnson, Larry Smith, Rodney Wilson and Jerry Hyers. Crosby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
