Obituary Tressa Joanne Vander Henst, age 87 of Grand Rapids, MI went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 21, 2019. She was preceded in death by sister Lena Veenstra and brother James Engels. She is survived by John, her loving husband of 67 years and brother Herman Engels; children, Judy Vander Henst (William Brenneman), Joan (Dan) Boverhof, John (Deb) Vander Henst; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was proud of growing up on the West Side enjoying swimming, sledding, and ice skating at Richmond Park. Faith and family were the focus of her life. Tressa was a 67 year member of Beckwith Hills CRC where she participated in Bible studies and was a faithful volunteer for the church. Tressa held the most honorable profession, that of mother and housewife. She was well known in her family for her delicious cookies, desserts, and home canning. Taking a walk and enjoying the out of doors was a favorite way to spend her time in later years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 30 at Beckwith Hills CRC, 2100 Chelsea Rd. NE, with Pastor Rick Pinckney officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, November 29 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 am.
