Sollie’s Obituary Sollie Matthew Brown, age 53, a native and resident of Grove Hill, Alabama, was born September 19, 1966, the third child of four children born to the parentage of the late John Wesley Brown and the late D’Ester Upshaw Brown. He departed this life Tuesday, November 13, 2019 at his home. Sollie graduated from Clarke County High School in 1984 where he was a devout trumpet player and received many awards and achievements. Soon after graduating high school he joined the United States Air Force where he became a highly trained firefighter. While serving his Country, Sollie received the AF Achievement Medal with One Leaf Cluster, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, AF Overseas Service Long Tour Ribbon, AF Training Ribbon National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, AF Longevity, Good Conduct Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, AF Outstanding Unit Award with One Oak Leaf Cluster. Among the educational courses Sollie excelled were NCO Leadership School, Fire Truck Operation, NCO Preparatory Course, and Apprentice Fire Protection Specialist. He was stationed in many locations around the world but it was in the Philippines is where he became a proud father of a little baby girl he named Lydia. Due to an injury, Sollie separated from the Air Force to return to his home in Grove Hill. Though Sollie was baptized and confessed Christ at an early age; he grew and became a devout Child of God. He consistently divided the Word of God and witnessed to those who sought Him. We can proudly say that Sollie made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a lively, energetic, and positive attitude at all times; the direct result of his relationship with our God the Father. He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Lydia Victoria Manacap of Naga, Philippines, one grand-daughter Areej Mae “Mae Mae”; one grand-son Dave, both of Naga, Philippines; older sister Mary Presnall of Mobile, AL; older brother Mark Brown of Tuscaloosa, AL; younger sister Marilyn Kelly (Randall) of Cleveland, MS; Three nephews: Marshall Presnall of Mobile, AL, Jamarcus Brown and Jamerrion Brown both of Tuscaloosa, AL; Three nieces: Sharron Presnall Taylor of Lawrenceville, GA; Tawanda Presnall Bradford of Montgomery, AL, and Monica Presnall Howard of Mobile, AL; a devoted cousin Michael Upshaw of Grove Hill, AL; one loving aunt, Iva Dean (Roy) Coats of Moss Point, MS; two devoted brothers in Christ, Rev. William Jackson (since childhood), Rev. Charles Young (since returning from the military); and a host of cousins, in-laws, other relatives, and friends. Viewing Friday, November 22, 2019, 4-6pm at Andrews Funeral Home Chapel “A”, 800 Depot Road, Jackson, AL 36545; viewing also on Saturday, November 23, 2019, 10am until the 11am service at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, 255 Greater Ebenezer Road, Coffeeville, AL, Rev. Nicholas Howell, pastor; Rev. William Jackson, eulogist. The Brown Family will gather at the entrance of Clarke County High School in Grove Hill, AL Saturday at 9:45am and the motorcade will depart from there at 10am. The Family respectfully requests that all food, flowers, and other tangible expressions of kindness be delivered to the church instead of the Brown Family Home.
