Nella’s Obituary Nella Mae (Pearson) Amen was born in Poteau, OK on December 7, 1940 to Burtis Earl Pearson and Ruby Catherine Earnestine Hammons and passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, OK. She spent much of her childhood in the Baptist Children’s Home in Oklahoma City, after her mother, Ruby, died when she was just five years old. She met Delbert Amen at the church they were both attending, and on April 29, 1961 they were married. On August 27, 1963, their son, Gregory Dean was born, followed on May 16, 1965 by their daughter, Susan Kay. Nella spent her adult life loving and nurturing her husband and children, as well as her siblings and their families. She taught us how to be kind and caring through her own demonstrations of unconditional love. She continually strove to provide the best life and opportunities for her family, sacrificing her time, resources and even her health so that they could thrive and be well taken care of. Nella is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Wanda, Lavonne, and Evelyn; and her brother, Harold. She is survived by her husband, Delbert Dean Amen; son, Gregory Dean Amen; and daughter, Susan Kay Abbott and her husband Dave Abbott; and three grandchildren, Nathan Abbott, Julia Abbott, and Sophia Abbott.
