Mr. Kenneth Douglas Lentz, Jr. 73, of Fort Oglethorpe went to be with Our Lord on Thursday, November 14, 2019 after a battle with cancer. Doug, as he preferred to be called, was born on May 21, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Lentz graduated from Central High School in May 1964. He was very active in the Chattanooga Boys Club where he was invited to attend a special ceremony in Nashville on May 21, 1965 (his 19th birthday) to meet Richard Nixon as the Chairman of the Board for Boys’ Clubs of America. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Army National Guard in November 1972. He obtained his Bachelor Degree in Industrial Technology in 1992 from Southern Illinois University College of Engineering. He worked in Industrial Engineering in Florence, Alabama, Manchester, Tennessee, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was raised by his grandmother, Mabel Chittam, in the Lakeview and Chattanooga areas. He was preceded in death by his uncle, William “Bill” Lentz , father, Kenneth Lentz, Sr. and Mrs. Jo King. Mr. Lentz is survived by his wife, Darlene Jenkins Lentz; his daughter and son-in-law, Erica D. and Jason Sullivan of Ringgold, sons, Shane Levan of Ashland City, Tennessee. and Dennis Lentz of Ringgold, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Derrick L. and Tosha Lentz of Rossville; sister, Donna Caldwell of Memphis; brothers, Steve Randall Misho of Hollywood, Ca, John Lentz of Flintstone, and Rick Lentz of East Ridge. He is also survived by several step-children, grandchildren, and step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 on Friday, November 15th in the parlor of Wilson and Sons Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. The Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, November 16th at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Funeral Home with Ringgold United Methodist Pastor Chris Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park in Rossville. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Athletic Department, the Chattanooga Area Brain Injury Association (CABIA), or Ringgold United Methodist Church Music Department. Pall bearrers will be: Jody Tucker, Jason Sullivan, Bryson Sullivan, Eron Jenkins, Nick Jenkins, Shane Levan, and Dustin Clement.
