Obituary Karen Pope Barnard passed away on November 12, 2019. She was born to Marcos Wolfenson and Sara Pope on July 1, 1966 in Santa Barbara, CA. Karen grew up in Aptos, CA and graduated from Aptos High School in 1984. In 1986, she met her husband, Rob Barnard. That same year she was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They were married in 1987. In 1989, they were sealed in the Provo Temple. They lived in Utah until 1992 when they returned to California, residing in Foster City and eventually settling in San Ramon in 1997. In 2003, Karen started working at Preferred Financial, eventually becoming loan agent. She was passionate about her job and helping other people. She loved hiking with her family on the Pleasanton Ridge and Las Trampas trails, and frequenting the Stoneridge and Walnut Creek malls. She was an excellent cook and was known for her Christmas toffee. Although she moved to the valley, her love of the ocean ran deep. She was devout in her faith and being a mother and grandmother was her greatest joy. She was the light and center of her home, and she will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband Rob; their three daughters, Rachel, Sara, and Lauren; five grandchildren Emma, Charlie, Liv, Jude, and Kate; mother, Sara; and three siblings, Lee, Ana, and David.
