Obituary of John A. Sobotka John A. Sobotka, 90, of Mattydale, died on Saturday at University Hospital. He was a US Navy and Marine Corps veteran of WW2 and the Korean War and was injured in the line of duty. Mr. Sobotka retired from MONY and was formerly employed by Lenox Industries. He and his wife were active participants at many activities at Transfiguration Church and he served as an usher. He enjoyed traveling across the country, visiting Southwick Beach and was an avid Bills fan. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Freda; children: Sue (Ali) Manouchehripour, Jack (Rina), Kimberly Charima; and granddaughters: Ashley & Parisa Manouchehripour. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 9am in Transfiguration Church with burial to follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
