Joann K. White, 66, of Des Moines died on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at University Park Nursing in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 8, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory The family will greet friends after the service with a coffee time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Lost Chords Club may be left at the funeral home. Joann, the daughter of Clayton and Mary (Palmer) Mentzer, was born on November 28, 1952, in Des Moines. She graduated from SE Polk High School in 1971. Joann was united in marriage with Carroll White at the Simpson Church in Des Moines in 1971. Joann was a homemaker and member of the Lost Chords Club. When her children were young, Joann was an active home room mother. She also enjoyed crocheting, baking, and doing crafts. Joann loved her cat, Baby. Those left to honor Joann’s memory are her husband, Carroll White of Des Moines; two sons, Patrick (Veronica) White of Newton and Matthew White of Pella; three grandchildren, Michael (Sierra) White, Michelle White, and Vivian White; her great-grandchild, Theodore; siblings, Patricia Christensen of Des Moines and Ronald (Eve) Mentzer of Georgia; sister-in-law, Sally Mentzer of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Michelle White; brother, Dennis Mentzer; and brother-in-law, Gary Christensen.
