Janet’s Obituary Janet Borders Services for Janet Borders, 74, Allen, are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 3 at the Church of Christ in Allen, Mark Legg officiating. Burial follows at Allen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Allen Chapel in Allen. Ms. Borders passed away peacefully Thursday, November 28, 2019 at a Dallas hospital. She was born July 6, 1945 in Allen, OK, to Truman and Vinita Borders. She was the third of five children. She graduated from Allen High School in 1963, and graduated from East Central University in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Education and a minor in Mathematics. She received a master’s degree of education in Counseling in 1981 and a master’s degree of science in Human Resources Administration in 1996. During her career, she worked at Tinker Air Force Base, as well as teaching at Sasakwa schools. While teaching, she was sought out to work as Payroll Clerk and Personnel Advisor in the Business Department by the department head. She worked in that capacity for nine years before accepting a position as a coordinator and counselor with the East Central University Upward Bound program. She later became the director of the Upward Bound program for many years. Janet worked at ECU from 1969 until her retirement in 2005. Ms. Borders was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers – Ronald, Muriel, and Kenneth, and a brother-in-law, Barry Carty. Survivors include a sister, Janice Carty, Lake Oswego, Oregon; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Borders, Allen, Texas; a nephew, Michael Carty and wife Jennifer, Tigard, Oregon; a niece Michelle Barrick and husband Tim, Allen, Texas; a nephew, Ryan Carty and wife Julie, Oswego, Illinois; a niece, Melanie Storts and husband Nathan, Allen, Texas. She is also survived by ten great-nieces and great-nephews: Aiden and Mira Carty; Melissa and Daniel Barrick; Noelle, Hailey, and Finn Carty; Luke, Andrew, and Emma Storts. Bearers are her nephews: Michael Carty, Ryan Carty, Tim Barrick, and Nathan Storts. Honorary bearers are cousins: WB “Dub” Borders, Marion Borders, Bill Johnson, Jerry Johnson, and family friend David Harrington. Read More
