Mrs. Edna V. Humphreys 94 , a resident of Trenton, MO. died Saturday Nov. 2, 2019 at 4:35 A.M. at Wright Memorial Hospital, Trenton. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at the Humphreys Cemetery, Humphreys, MO. Family visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Resthaven Mortuary, Trenton. Memorials to: Humphreys Cemetery and may be left or mailed to the mortuary. Mrs. Humphreys was born August 11, 1925 in Columbus, GA the daughter of Robert L. and Virginia Mae Driver Tomblin. Before retirement Mrs. Humphreys was active in community organizations including the Humphreys Community Center Board, the Humphreys Christian Church, and employed at the Ben Franklin Store in Trenton. She also co-founded a Thursday Luncheon Event at Cindy’s Restaurant in Galt, Missouri, and presided over years of joyful noontime meetings of like-minded friends. At the time of her death she was a member of the Trenton Church of The Nazarene. Growing up near the large Ft. Benning army base and President Roosevelt’s vacation home of Warm Springs, Mrs. Humphreys witnessed many iconic historic events including the mobilization of paratroopers for D-Day, parades featuring President Roosevelt, and support for out-of-town G.I.s at family gatherings and other cultural events. Following his discharge from the U.S. Army she married John B. Humphreys on Nov. 24, 1945 in Phenix City, AL. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2004. Her survivors include one daughter Pamela Humphreys, Columbia, MO., two sons Melvin Humphreys and wife Patricia, Trenton and Marvin Humphreys, Trenton, three grandsons Trae Humphreys and wife Rebecca, Wrighstown, WI, Matthew Humphreys, Columbia, MO., and Ethan Humphreys, Sedalia, MO, and two great-grandchildren Aiden Humphreys and Croix Humphreys. She has one surviving sister, Mrs. Virginia Minnix, of Columbus, Georgia, and numerous nieces and nephew throughout the southeastern United States . She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
