Obituary of Doris LaJuan Payton Doris La Juan Payton, Bob’s loving wife of 68 years, passed early Saturday morning on November 2, 2019, and she is now rejoicing with Christ our Lord. After being hospitalized for a major stroke in July, her battle for recovery took place for 3 months in the care of Parkwood Healthcare Community in Bedford TX. who we are so thankful for, as their kind, caring and dedicated staff did their very best to rehab her health, even with daily family encouragement and help, she eventually began to give up all intake of food and water. Doris was a loving caring person in general to all people, as well as being a wonderful mother, she also had 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all of her family, and friends, and from Hurst Seniors Activity Center, and her dear neighbors at Heritage Village Residences in Hurst, TX. where she truly enjoyed living and making new friends during her last 5 years. Doris was the most generous and giving person, always celebrating and preferring others more than herself. Doris is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert (Bob) Payton; her bother Ed Blalack; and her daughter Sherrie (Payton) Rainsberger. Doris was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Moad and her son, Stephen Payton. She has lots of family, including cousins; family-in-laws; nieces and nephews; and successful grandchildren across the USA, and their achievements were made possible in part through her loving prayers. Doris was a retired executive secretary and administrative assistant from Xerox Corp, and truly loved living life at Cedar Creek Lake where she and Bob enjoyed life during most of their early retirement, and for many years. Doris loved entertaining in their home, and doing things for people, always caring for others. She loved planting flowers and feeding the animals at the lake, Doris and Bob also provided daily feedings for the ducks and squirrels, as well as taking good care of Doris’ aging parents for several years. Doris and Bob both have helped a lot of people and made things better wherever they have lived. Doris was a native Texan, and a graduate of Pashcal High School in Ft. Worth Texas, where she lived when she met Bob, who was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base when they got married in July of 1951. They enjoyed a long happy life of work and play and raising their children in Euless and in Irving Texas. Doris and Bob also loved their jobs, and taking vacations, as they worked hard and earned the time off to visit Mexico, and spend family vacations in Kentucky, and in many other states around this great USA. Doris loved keeping up with current events, she really liked watching baseball and the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros, plus being the avid Dallas Cowboys football fan she was, they hosted many football parties when they lived at the lake, and was often seen watching sports cheering on Tiger Woods, listening to George Strait, dancing, dining and visiting with family and friends at Bronco’s Sports Bar. Doris loved the beautiful shape of our great state of Texas, and it is no surprise her favorite flowers were Texas Bluebonnets and yellow roses. Per her wishes, and being a woman of faith in God and the private person she was, she chose cremation through Forest Ridge Funeral Home in NRH, TX. With Bob being a United States Veteran, Doris’ remains will be placed at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy Dallas, TX 75236. To honor her request there will be no actual funeral or memorial service, as it was her hope that no one be sad about her passing, she rather preferred to be remembered with all the good times made together when she was with us and full of love and life. Doris loved to attend church when she could, and gleaned from watching Joel Osteen on television, and believed that her loved ones who proceeded her in death will all meet again someday in heaven. It has been said that we have not lost her, we are part of her past, and she is in our future. Donations in Doris’ memory can be made to her favorite charity: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN. 38105
