Charles “Buddy” M. Land, 83, of Walhalla, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at Cottingham Hospice House, following a long illness. Born July 1, 1936, in Seneca, SC, to the late Joe Adger Land and Emily Freddie Land, he graduated from Keowee High School in 1955 and went on to graduate from Tri-County Technical College. Following a career in IT he retired from Schlumberger Industries. After which, he enjoyed serving on the Walhalla City Council and the Oconee Road Runners Club. He also drove a bus for the School District of Oconee County and Duke Energy. He will be remembered for his love of family and friends, for his love of running, and for his love of basketball. Mr. Land attended Rocky Knoll Baptist Church. Mr. Land is survived by his daughters: Tereca L. Moore and her husband George of Mooresville, NC and Tammy L. Overman and her husband Thomas of Walhalla, SC; sister: Katie Williams of Seneca, SC; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Land was preceded in death by his son: Tracy D. Land. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Sunday, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
