Betty Jean Platt March 24, 1933 – November 09, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE A celebration of Betty Jean Platt’s life, age 86 of Jasper, will be on 12:00 noon, Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Beech Grove Baptist Church in Jasper. Visitation will be from 11:00am until service time. Betty died November 9, 2019 at her home in Jasper. A native of Livingston and a longtime Jasper resident, she was a graduate of Livingston High School. On July 18, 1952 she married the love of her life Billy Frank Platt, Sr. After moving to Jasper, she managed Henderson Drug for many years. She enjoyed crafts and painting. She loved her family and was involved in all their activities as they grew-up. Always well put together, she went out to be seen. She is survived by her husband of over 67 years, Billy Frank Platt, Sr. of Jasper; son, Billy “Bill” Platt, Jr. of Jasper; daughter, Janetta Platt Brewster of Crystal Beach; three nieces, Peggy Ann Glassco of Trinity, JoLin Fraser of Jasper and Kellie Hutchison of Orangefield; four grandchildren, Jonas & wife Ami Platt, Jeremy & wife Holly Brewster, Katie & husband Justin Davis, and Jamie Platt Stoker; four great grandchildren, Koby Groves, Bo Brewster, Jaxon Stoker and Kamden Davis. She is also survived by a host of other family & friends. Betty was preceded in death by her father and mother, Willie Earl & Estelle McAlister, and sister, Janette Denham. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Houston & SE Texas, 2909 W. Holcombe, Houston, TX 77025. Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
