Obituary Benny Coleman Barber was born October 6, 1949 to Nellie Dortch and Oscar Coleman Barber in Dallas, Texas. He passed away on November 6, 2019 at the age of 70. He is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Barber, his parents, Nellie Dortch and Oscar Coleman Barber, his sister, Brenda Goodin, and brother, Gale Barber. Benny is survived by his daughter, Katie Moore and her husband Brian and grandkids, Mason and Emmie. Two sisters, Ann Taylor and El Wanda Brown, and many beloved nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews. Benny is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he ranked as a Specialist 5 and earned several medals, including National Defense Service, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign, Army Commendation, and Air. He worked as a truck driver for ABF and retired after 42 years. He loved fishing, hunting, spending time with his buddies at Wings, dancing to country music, as well as volunteering at the AMVET 23 Post. Funeral Services for Benny Coleman Barber are scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday, November 12, 2019 in the chapel at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home.
