Adell Mathis Dortch October 29, 1924 – November 16, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation OBITUARY Sister Adell Mathis Dortch (October 29, 1924 – November 16, 2019) Sister Adell Mathis Dortch passed at her residence on Saturday, November 16, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. “Mrs. Adell”, as she was affectionately called, was a native of Fowl River, Alabama (Mobile County) and a resident of Mobile, Alabama. She retired from Hillhaven Convalescent Home and became a loving homemaker for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a dedicated member of Rock of Faith Baptist Church, where she served with the Mission Department and Deaconess Ministry. She is preceded in death by her Parents, John and Ethel Mathis; her beloved husband of 64 years, Eddie Dortch, Sr.; Son, Benjamin Dortch; grandson, Jamaal Rocker; Sisters, Henrietta Presley and Julia Washam. She is survived by her loving children: Claude (Rita) Thompson of Sugarland, TX.; Carolyn (Reverend Fleet) Belle, Deborah Scorver, Sandra Lamb (a very devoted caretaker), Eddie (Magdalene, a devoted aide to caregiver) Dortch, Jr., Janet (Rodney Lott) and Colleen “Nita” Moffatt; one Brother, Clausell (Brenda) Mathis of Montgomery, AL.; 13 Grandchildren Cynthia, Horace (Marsha), Michele and Cedric (Tamela) Thompson, all of California; Faith (Domonic) Lucy, Hope (Derick) Payne, Marc and Joycelyn Scorver, Lekeithia “Chon” Mosley and Courtney Dortch, Jacinta and Jason (Kendra) Dortch and Thomatra “Matt” Moffatt; 20 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, Sisters-in-Law, Carrie Washington and Irene Wooten; Brothers-in-Law, Richmond, Robert and Willie Richardson (all of Mobile) and Harry Richardson of Georgia; Nieces and nephews, cousins (one devoted – Mamie Higgins) of Huntsville, AL., friends and the Rock of Faith Baptist Church Family.
