Obituary for Thomas A, “Tom” Robinson Sr. NEWBURGH and BENEDICTA, ME – Thomas A. Robinson, Sr., 83, died October 27, 2019. Tom was born on January 26, 1936 in Sherman, ME, the son of Richard & Marie (Cummings) Robinson. Tom attended St. Benedict’s High School in Benedicta and the University of Maine from 1954-1956 where he graduated with a degree in agriculture. Tom was a loving and devoted husband and father. He married Mary (Duffy) in 1957. After Mary’s death in 1990 Tom married Margaret in 1994. Tom worked as a potato farmer in Benedicta for many years. He worked as a woodcutter for Cecil Cummings, alongside his friend, Otie Hunt. He was then employed with Great Northern Paper Co. in the woodland department and later by Irving Oil Co. as he worked both in Sherman and Bangor. Tom was an active member of St. Benedict’s parish until 1993 and he enjoyed a brief membership with the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of St. Matthews Parish for 25+ years. Tom was also on the Board of Selectmen for the Town of Benedicta for 18 years. Tom enjoyed wintering in Texas and Florida from 1998-2011 and he enjoyed Robinson family camping along with using the camper at Kelly Hill. Tom also actively followed the games and events of his grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a loving and gentle dad and grandfather. Tom is survived by his wife, Margaret; his sisters: Elizabeth, Patricia, Ethel and Mary; and by many special nieces and nephews; his children: Thomas, Jr. and his wife, Dianthe, of Benedicta, Harold and his wife, Anna, of Sherman, Robert and his wife, Susan, of Benedicta, Ronald and his wife, Samantha, of Benedicta, Kevin and his wife, Michelle, of South Carolina, Jane of Biddeford, Randall and his wife, Patty, of Hollis and Jeannie and her husband, Dan, of Woolwich; 17 grandchildren: Erica, Ryan, Chris, Travis, Kirby, Erin, Felisha, Levi, Ronni Michelle, Mary-Jo, Brandon, Isabella, Austin, Cameron, Randi Lee, Mason and Josephine and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, and daughters, Regina and Karen. Tom will be fondly remembered by Margaret’s family: The Gary Cole family of Dixmont and Nancy Klein of Etna. Friends and Family may call from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, October 30, 2019 and from 10-11 am Thursday, October 31 at St. Benedict’s Church in Benedicta followed by a funeral at 11 am, with Father Bruce Siket officiating.
