Sharon Devero Of Palatine Sharon Devero was born on August 5, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to William Broderick and Loretta (nee O’Neil) Marsh. She passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at her home with her children by her side. Sharon attended the University of Illinois – Navy Pier campus where she met her husband of 57 years, Jim. She earned a bachelor’s degree, majoring in history and English, and taught high school in Chicago and later in Mt. Prospect. She left teaching to start her own business, College Bound, a company focused on test preparation for high school students. After several years with College Bound, she went to work for Jewel Corporation creating employee benefit plans. A few years later she joined BMS, an employee benefits broker, where she helped small businesses with their ERISA plans. Her interests and hobbies included reading, tennis, bridge and travel. She was a master’s level bridge player who was just as comfortable at the black-jack table. Her artistic and creative decorating skills included painting and interior design. She loved to travel the world and both she and Jim were event people. They attended the Olympics, College Bowl games and ventured to Pamplona for the running of the bulls. Sharon is survived by her brother, Maurice “Moe” Broderick, her children Jack (Nancy) Devero, Cynthia (William) Ledbetter, Pam (John Brassil) Devereux and J. Jay Devero; her grandchildren Patrick, Thomas, Quinn and Shane (Alyssa) Devero; Adam and Kyle (Naghmeh Taghvaei) Ledbetter; Brittany (Daniel) Broombaugh; Clay and Will Brassil; Lia Devereux; and her great grandchildren Myla and Mona Ledbetter. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and siblings; William Broderick, Jean McCabe, and Msgr Killian Broderick. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 1:00pm until the time of the Funeral Mass at 2:00pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 W. Palatine Rd., Inverness, Illinois 60067. Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gift of Adoption Fund at giftofadoption.org/donate/ Condolences can be given at www.GlueckertFuneralHome.com or (847) 253-0168. The family would like to extend their special thanks to the doctors, the hospice care team from Journey, and the many neighbors, friends and family who provided loving support and care.
