Ruth’s Obituary Ruth E. Hanson, 89, of Benson, Minnesota, died on Monday afternoon, October 7, 2019 at Homestead Place North in Benson, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 1–2 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2 pm, on Saturday, October 12, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Interment will be in Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Ruth Evelyn Hanson was born June 15, 1930 at home in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Hans Christian and Emma Helen (Torguson) Larson. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church by Pastor Nasheim. Ruth grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School. On December 3, 1948, Ruth was united in marriage to Harold Edward Hanson at Our Saviors by Pastor Nasheim. This union was blessed with over forty years of marriage and five children. They made their home in Benson, Minnesota and Ruth was a wonderful and talented homemaker. She served on the Alter Guild, Coterie, and Ladies Aid. Ruth loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, and attending Birthday Club with neighborhood friends. She was an excellent golfer and was so proud of her hole-in-one! Ruth was called from this life on Monday, October 7, 2019 at Homestead Place North under Hospice care and surrounded by family. She attained the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 22 days. She is survived by her children: Diane Krupke of Benson, Nancy (Les) Loecher of the Villages, FL, Suzanne (Ronnie) Johnson of Starbuck, Robert Hanson of Edina, and Mary (Roger) Schlichting of Lino Lakes; grandchildren: Lance (Renee) Krupke, Joy (Grant) Wichmann, Katie (Michael) Groinus, Ryan (Tamara) Loecher, Matthew Loecher, Lindsey (Jim) Tinucci, Alex (Megan) Hanson, Jennifer Moravec, Brooke (Brad) Chandler, Scott (Natalie) Johnson, Andrew (Luci) Schlichting, Justin (Chris) Johnsen, and Peter Schlichting; great-grandchildren: Marcus, Jordan and Drake Krupke, Cody, Tyler and Bryn Wichmann, Nathan and Kaitlyn Loecher, Madison and Zachary Moravec, Avery and Brie Chandler, Michaela, Cameron and Max Johnson, Brooks, Cohen and Harper Groinus, Logan and Parker Tinucci, and Hadley Hanson; siblings: Delmar (Ardis) Larson of Camaneo Island, WA and Inez Larson of Benson. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Harold E. Hanson on September 4, 1989; son-in-law Harlan Krupke; daughter-in-law Julie Kay Hanson; grandson-in-law Michael Moravec; sisters: Helen Clark, Deloris Burns and Mickey Slaughter; and brother Herbert Larson.
