Ronald Howard Beverly (Coach), 72, the son of Kathryn and John Beverly passed away on September 21, 2019 at Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville, California. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, La Verne; children, Eric Barnes, Ron Jr. (Reina), Robin Sloan (Marvin), Aaron and Sophie (his dog); mother, Kathryn (104 years of age); brother, Robert, sisters-in-law, Claudette, Lee, and Kim; brother-in-law, Miles; numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His father, John Beverly III and his brother, John Beverly IV, preceded him in death. Ron was a part of the first graduating class at Vanden High School in 1965 where he began a legacy, both as an athlete and later on as a coach. A superb 3-sport athlete who holds claim to scoring the schools first touchdown, basket in basketball, and first to win a race and score points in track and field. He received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University, Sacramento in 1969, followed by his Teaching Credential. A career educator and coach for 34 years in Solano County, Ron began his teaching career in Travis Unified School District and then moved on to Solano Community College where he would retire in 2007. He won three league titles and a section championship at Vanden. He went on to become the winningesthead football coach in Solano College history. During retirement, he was an avid cyclist, enjoyed swimming, watching sports, nurturing his flowers and giving golf lessons. Coach enjoyed nothing more than winning and bringing out the best in every single person her met. Family and friends may attend A Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 12, in the James Boyd Gymnasium at VandenHigh School, 2951 Markeley Lane, Fairfield, California.
