Obituary of Rita E. Carson Rita E. Carson, 77, of Jamestown passed away Wednesday (October 23, 2019) in her home. A lifelong area resident she was born May 13, 1942 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late John U. and Georgia Firth Wirtner. Rita was a graduate of Jamestown High School and WCA Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to retirement she was employed by WCA Hospital. After retirement Rita worked at Heritage Park, Tanglewood Manor, Manor Oak Nursing Home and Burger King. She was a member of Southwestern Independent Living Center having served as president, WCA Nurses Retirement Association, Jamestown Moose Club and Vikings Lodge. Surviving are her husband Harold W. Carson whom she married in 1966; four sons: James (Sandra) Humphreys of Angier, NC, Kevin Humphreys of Jamestown, Robert (Pam) Carson of Lillington, NC, Todd Carson of Jamestown; eight grandchildren: Nicole Warren, Suzanne Stewart, Chad Humphreys, Ben Humphreys, Jacob Milliman, John Carson, Griffin Carson, Amylea Carson; seven great grandchildren; three sisters: Donna Ahlgren, Roberta Gardner and Hazel Wirtner. The funeral will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Reginald Smith will officiate. Inurnment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a card would be appreciated.
