Obituary of Richard Brown Richard L. “Dickie” Brown, 69, Rome, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at University Hospital in Syracuse. He was born on January 24, 1950, in Malone, the son of Robert and Maureen Jervis Brown. On August 21, 1970, Dickie was united in marriage to Bonita M. “Bonnie” Crumb in Rome. She passed away on February 17, 2009. Dickie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army receiving an honorable discharge in 1976. Dickie was employed as an accountant specialist at DFAS in Rome for twenty-four years, retiring in 2013. He enjoyed playing guitar, riding his motorcycles, attending car shows, and most importantly, spending time with his beloved family. Surviving are his son, Eric Brown, of Colorado Springs, CO; a granddaughter, Hannah Brown, of Colorado Springs, CO; a former daughter-in-law, Mandy Brown, of Colorado Springs, CO; his siblings, Robert Brown, of Saugerties, Patricia Glur, of Rome, Dennis Brown (Eileen O’Shaughnessy), of Rome; a sister-in-law, Sharon Groat, of Rome; a brother-in-law, Ricky (Linda) Crumb, of Rome; and many beloved nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Amy and Melissa. Dickie was predeceased by two brothers, Floyd Brown and Leon Brown; two sisters, Sandy Asher, and Linda Brown; his step-father, Carl Brown; a brother-in-law, Robert Glur; and a nephew, David Roe. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at 12:00 PM (Noon) at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment with Military Honors will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
