Obituary of Raymond J. Halapin HALAPIN- Raymond J. Halapin, age 75 of Shelton, died peacefully on October 18, 2019 in Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born in Bridgeport on April 17, 1944, he was the son of the late Bernard J. and Mary Kovach Halapin. Mr. Halapin was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a longtime Shelton resident. He was a warehouse worker in the shipping and receiving department of the Medtronic Corp. (formerly known as Covidien and U.S. Surgical) of North Haven, for over 30 years, until the time of his retirement in 2015. Mr. Halapin was a passionate fisherman and lifetime member of the East End Yacht Club of Bridgeport. He is survived by his devoted sons, Raymond (Rebecca) Halapin of FL and Michael (Julieth) Halapin of Shelton; brothers, Bernie (Donna Grudetski) Halapin of Oxford and Richard Halapin as well as his daughters, Melissa and Heidi Halapin of Shelton; cherished grandchildren, Emiliano Halapin of Shelton and Chelsea and William King of FL; several nieces and nephews including, Cheryl Berry of West Haven and stepdaughters, Brenda & Doreen Cowell of WI. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas W. Halapin. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 6:30 PM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Family and friends may call prior to the service from 4:00 to 6:30 PM. Interment will be private.
