Nile Carleton Fields, 79, of Lebanon, Va., passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019. Born on December 1, 1939, in Russell County, Va., he was the son of the late Stanley and Vola Ferguson Fields. He was a member of Bascom United Methodist Church and worked for Green Paving and Hunter Paving for 56 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, farming, and paving, but most of all sitting on his front porch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Austin Fields, Joe David Fields, Carey Fields, and Kale Fields and his sister, Okema Fields Robinson. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Hattie Penley Fields; daughter, Sherry Fields; son, Samuel Fields and wife Vanessa; grandchildren, Tyler Fields and Hannah Spears; sisters, Shelby Fields Riley and Linda Fields Phillips; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and a host of friends and neighbors. Special thanks to Dr. Ernest Henry, the staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center in Lebanon, and Mercy Ambulance Service. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, in the Fields Family Cemetery in Lebanon with Pastor Yul Miller officiating.
