She was born to the late Clarence McPherson, Sr. and Leearnia Wood McPherson on March 15, 1926 in the Blackwater section of Princess County. She was married to the late William P. Snowden on July 17, 1942. Elaine attended Blackwater Elementary and Princess Anne Training School. She was employed at Snow White Laundry, Howard Cleaners, and Fairfax Cleaners for many years and then became a housekeeper and nanny for several families until she retired. Elaine was a lifelong member of New Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was the church mother. She loved attending services and did so on a regular basis until her health would not permit. She served diligently on the No. 2/Angelic Choir for many years and as a lifelong member of the Pastors Aide. She was a committed and dedicated servant to her church and family. Elaine loved cooking her famous sweet potato and coconut pies, solving word search puzzles, and was an avid gardener. Her favorite pastime was watching Family Feud and WWE Wrestling whether it was in English or Spanish. Everyone loved gathering at Big Ma’s on Sundays after church for her “oh so good” fried chicken. Elaine was predeceased by her husband William P. Snowden and her daughter, Irma “Bobby” Eure (Willie), her siblings, John Smith (Pauline), Martha Corprew (Herman), Haywood McPherson, Americus McPherson (Evelyn), Clarence McPherson, Jr., Edward McPherson (Edna) and Richard McPherson (Ethel).
