Monte’s Obituary Tulsa native, Monte Gene Stephens, passed away October 9, 2019 at Mercy Hospital Ardmore, Oklahoma following a period of failing health. Son of the late Gene Stephens and Dorothy Lee Kercheff Stephens, Monte was born June 26, 1961 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He grew up and graduated from high school there. During the Vietnam War he enlisted in the U. S. Navy, serving aboard the USS FDR. Following his Naval service he entered the U. S. Coast Guard and was discharged with honor. For his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Award, and the Coast Guard Piston Marksmanship Ribbon, Sharpshooter. Following his military service he became a self-employed carpenter. Cremation-With-Care was provided by Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory. No services at this time. Read More
