1936 2019
Obituary of Mildred Irace Mildred Irace peacefully left us on Wednesday, October 16th to reunite with her beloved husband of 60 years, Charlie. She was 83 years old. She leaves behind their three sons: Charles (fiancĂ© Jackie), Joseph, and Dominic (Autumn), and three daughters: Pat Mills (loving ex son-in-law Tim), Maria Raymond (Scott), and Angela Mills (Tom). Millie was affectionately called Granny by her sixteen grandchildren: Anna Jean and Lawrence Irace (mother Ruth), Amanda, Alec, Ava, and Adam Irace (mother Elayne), Timmy (Carlee) and Michael Mills, Mary Rielly (Kevin), Andrew and Katie Raymond, Faith, Farrah, Fern, and Tommy Mills, and Orion Irace, plus her eight great grandchildren: Mason, Jocelyn, Cora, Alice, and Daisy Mills, Brooke Hessinger, McKinley and Sadie Rielly. She is also survived by her loving cousin Alfred “Sonny” Zarrella, sisters-in-law Anne DeMartino and Camille Irace (Diana), and nieces Laura Foley (Dennis), Angela Pica, and Gerry Anne Dalton (Jim), and nephew Joseph DeMartino. Mildred is predeceased by her devoted husband, Charlie, who passed on August 13, 2018. Also her mother, Mildred, sister Adrienne, aunt Mary, uncles Jimmy and Bobby, in-laws Pasquale and Angelina, sister-in-law Florence, brothers-in-law Dominic and Jerry, and son-in-law Mark. Mildred was born in the Bronx on January 2, 1936. At age 20, she met the love of her life, Charlie, while both were working for a construction company in Whitestone. She was soft spoken and tender and he was boisterous and rough. Together they made the perfect couple. They married on May 11, 1958. After enjoying weekends and summers in Livingston Manor, they moved their family there in 1975. One of their favorite pastimes was taking drives along the backroads together. Millie’s entire world was her family and being a homemaker. All she wanted was to live a modest life full of love; not frills, and she was thankful every day for it. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, baking, ceramics, and collecting Kewpie dolls. We will never forget the countless Sunday spaghetti dinners that she cooked for us, which over the years turned into Pizza Night Thursdays for the grandkids. Once you became a part of her life, she was a lifelong friend. She kept in touch through the passing years and always made you feel special. She never forgot to send a birthday, anniversary, or thank you card. Millie was a nonjudgmental woman of faith that was extremely giving. She was truly one of God’s angels on Earth. We were so blessed to have her as our matriarch. No family gathering or holiday will ever be the same without our granny and gramps, but we know they will be holding hands and smiling down at us. We’d like to express our sincere gratitude for Millie’s caregivers, Ashley, Becky, Bonnie, Colleen, Elizabeth, Kathy, and Velma. Thank you for your dedication, kindness, and all the shared laughs over her quick wit that she maintained through it all. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Mildred’s name can be made to St. Aloysius Church, 22 Church St., Livingston Manor, NY 12758. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 26th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Colonial Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl St. Livingston Manor NY 12758.
