Michael Thomas Broderick, 83, of Naples, FL passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Formerly of Manhasset, NY he had been a resident of Naples for the past 19 years, coming from Southbury, CT. Michael was born December 22, 1935 in Bronx, NY a son of the late John J. and Loretta R. (Gordon) Broderick. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy at University College Dublin, Class of 1957. Mr. Broderick’s career was spent working as a Director of Claims for the New York City Transit Authority, retiring at the age of 61. He was an avid golfer and car enthusiast who also enjoyed horses, playing bocce and reading. Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Ruth T. (Hohenester) Broderick; loving children, John (Sara) Broderick of Manhasset, NY, Dr. Elisabeth (Andrew O’Rourke) Broderick of Naples, FL, Ruth (Robin) Van Den Nieuwenhuizen of Ridgefield, CT, Michael (Eileen) Broderick of Raleigh, NC, and Matthew (Alison) of Marietta, GA; brothers, John (Jane) Broderick, Thomas (Helga Young) Broderick and Patrick (Susan) Broderick; sisters, Jane Savage and Dr. Kathleen Broderick; and grandchildren, Michael, John, Kelia, Nicholas, Schuyler, Xander, Natasha, Mary, Thomas and Brennan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Loretta. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail So., Bonita Springs, FL 34134. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 9:30 AM at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 28300 Beaumont Road, Bonita Springs, FL 34134. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mike’s name may be made to Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.
