Michael’s Obituary On October 12, 2019, after a 12+ year battle with brain cancer, Mike finally (in his words) jumped over the finish line into the arms of Jesus. His pain is gone and his struggle is over. He is now in heaven surrounded by peace and love beyond our earthly imagination. Michael Aaron Rosson was born to Larry and Pam Rosson on February 8, 1975 in San Pedro, California. When Mike was two years old, his family moved to Casper, Wyoming where he grew up with his older brother (Dan Rosson) and younger sister (Lisa Rosson McDaniel). Mike was always very active and athletic. His main sport was soccer and he was an all-star player in high school. He also enjoyed hunting with his dad and continued to hunt with his son and friends throughout his life. Mike graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in Casper, Wyoming in 1993. He went on to attend college at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. There he met Tristan (Striegel) Rosson and the two were married on July 12, 1997. In December of 1999, Mike graduated with a finance degree which took him and Tristan to Pocatello, Idaho where they were blessed with their son, Kyle, on October 1, 2000. In November of 2000, the family of three moved to Rapid City, South Dakota where Mike worked as a business banker for Wells Fargo Bank. On September 26, 2003, beautiful Lacy was born to complete their family of four. Throughout the next several years Mike had a few different jobs, all involving banking of some kind. He always had a passion for working with people and helping small businesses. Despite his battle with brain cancer, Mike always kept working hard and moving forward. His dry, quirky sense of humor kept everyone laughing, and his huge heart was always present with concern and compassion for others. Mike’s faith in the Lord never wavered; even as he continued to “beat the odds” and “outlive his expiration date,” he always knew this was not his forever home. The hardest part of leaving this world was saying goodbye to his kids. They were the light of his life and his pride and joy. However, we know he is now with Jesus, his parents, and other loved ones who passed on before him. We will meet him there someday, but in the meanwhile let’s all live a full, passionate life in his honor. Mike was a huge San Diego Chargers fan (We are in denial that they are now in LA.) and a University of Wyoming Cowboy. He loved Chris Ledoux, cowboy boots, donuts, Mt. Dew, and FOOD in general. On Monday, October 21 at 3:30 PM, we will celebrate Mike’s life at Fountain Springs Church, 2100 N Plaza Dr, Rapid City, SD. Mike wanted this to be a casual affair so if you have cowboy boots or hats, Chargers or UW gear, Mountain Dew t-shirts, etc., feel free to wear them! If you wish to give a gift in Mike’s honor, memorials may be designated to Central HS Girls Soccer or Rapid City YoungLife. Read More
