Mary Jennings Ford December 30, 1935 – October 07, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Memorial Donation Mary Jennings Ford, 83, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, October 7, 2019 in the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Winston & Sarah Lyons Jennings. Mary was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended East Tennessee State University. She was retired from the Elizabethton City School System. She loved collecting antiques and loved to travel. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church where in previous years she sang in the choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Dan Ford, January 10, 2015. Survivors include her sons & daughters-in-law: Art (Janice) Smithdeal, Rick (Lori) Smithdeal and Joe (Tammy) Smithdeal all of Elizabethton. Her grandchildren: Travis (Shelley) Smithdeal, Joseph & Sean Smithdeal. One Great Granddaughter: Rosie Smithdeal. Her Step-Daughter Rebecca Ann (John) Scudder. One Step-Granddaughter: Madison Ann Scudder. A sister: Peggy Geagley, a brother: Joe (Janice) Jennings. Several nieces, nephews & cousins. Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2019 in Mountain Home National Cemetery with her grandsons: Travis & Joseph Smithdeal officiating. Burial will follow the service. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends with the welcome Sunday School from Oak Street Baptist Church as Honorary Pallbearers. The family would like to express a special “thank You” to the staff of 2200 Wing, Johnson City Medical Center for the excellent care she received. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mary to the “We Love Our Church’ % Oak Street Baptist Church, 804 Oak Street, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643. Friends may visit at the residence or the residence of the sons. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 11:20 a.m. Thursday.
