Mary’s Obituary Mary Charlene Walker Powers, age 57, of Tellico Plains, departed this life on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the University Of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Born on May 28, 1962 to the late James and Christine Walker, she was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County and enjoyed cooking, traveling and taking care of children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Danny Moore; brother, Edward Walker; and sister, Rose Finley. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Powers of Tellico Plains; children, Donnie Moore of Sweetwater, Ivan Moore of Tellico Plains, and Amy (Jason) Freeman of Sweetwater; half-sister, Michelle Nelson; and half-brothers, Wayne and Tony “Shorty” Strickland. Nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several extended family members also survive. A Graveside service will be conducted at 3p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother Joe Massick officiating. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, prior to the graveside, from 1:00 – 2:00p.m. at the funeral home. Read More
