Mark’s Obituary Graveside services for Mark Wayne Ellis, 84, will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2019, in the Garden of the Good Shepherd at Hillcrest Memorial Park conducted by Rev. David Daniel, pastor of the First United Methodist Church. Son of the late Ernie and Dora (Butler) Ellis, Mark was born November 6, 1934 at Marietta, Oklahoma. He passed away October 14, 2019 at the hospital in Marietta. Mark was a graduate of Lone Grove High School, the class of 1953. There he met his high-school sweetheart, Sue Mitchell. They were married August 5, 1955 and blessed with two children Brad and Brenda. They had celebrated their sixty-fourth wedding anniversary this year. An Area Manager for the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company, Mark retired in 1992 after thirty-six years service. He and Sue moved back to Ardmore from Chandler to be near their family. Mark enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing in his leisure time. Mark’s greatest joy in life was following the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their academic and sporting events. Mark was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and had served in the Oklahoma National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Sue Ellis of the home; a son, Brad Ellis and wife, Brenda Faye; a daughter, Brenda Elaine Ellis; grandchildren, Clint Burgess (Jacqui), Mark Burgess, Brandi Clubine (Jesse), Staci Ellis (Cody); his great grandchildren, Jonathan Merchain, Quentin Burgess and Chloe Clubine; brother, Larry Ellis, sister, Jane Rutledge; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Ellis.
