Obituary of Mable Hillestad Mrs. Mable Ruth Deese Hillestad, 93, a resident of Ozark, died Monday morning, October 28, 2019, in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Hillestad will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 31, 2019, from Chalkhead Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Woodham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Thursday in the church from 9:30 A.M. until service time. Mrs. Hillestad was born March 23, 1926 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Early Floyd and Maude Skipper Deese. She worked with Pea River Electric for thirty-eight years until her retirement. Mrs. Hillestad was a member of Chalkhead Baptist Church for most of her life. She was a great seamstress and loved to cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Sybil Woodham; and one brother, Milton Deese. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Emil Kermit and Susan Stubbs; three grandchildren, Allen Stubbs, Heather Reeners, and Nicki Bull; one great granddaughter, Emma Reeners; and one sister, Jeanette Woodham. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chalkhead Baptist Church, 495 County Road 35, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
